The ultimate purpose of PnR is to make some advantageous situations. To understand the advantageous situations, it is very important to resolve 2on2 into smaller parts.

Now, I will introduce three types of the parts. See below explanations.

2on2 → 2on1 + 2on1

This pattern of resolving mainly corresponds to vs "Chase / Over", "Under", "Ice". Sometimes it corresponds to vs "Blitz", "Show and Return", "Switch". The first 2on1, it is to eliminate handler's D. The second one, it is to eliminate screener's D.

2on2 → 1on2 + 1on0

This pattern of resolving mainly corresponds to vs "Blitz", "Show and Return", sometimes "Switch". The first 1on2, handler attracts both defenders to himself. The second 1on0, screener is opened up.

2on2 → 1on1 & 1on1

This pattern of resolving mainly occurs in vs "Switch", sometimes "Show and Return". Making advantageous match-ups, then challenging 1on1.
